“PALM LEAF TOTEM”

(b. 1979, Cyprus) initially trained in Architecture and Design before
pursuing Fine Arts at École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de
Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, France. Her practice involves a wide range of media, including drawing, photography, sculpture and installations.
She has presented her work in numerous group and solo shows, art fairs and biennales. Ioannou has done several collaborations including: Hermès Paris, Camper and CamperLab, Marriott International, VisitCyprus, and Phileleftheros newspaper.

Solid and compressed volumes balance between a relief and the three-dimensional, represent familiar objects, natural and urban landscapes, architectural buildings. They are all malleable to associations and to schematic admixtures, creating landscapes that seem to balance between reality and representation, coexistence and conflict, tenderness and roughness, while at the same time testify to the perpetual stratification of space and time.
